Rising From The Ashes

Like rain drops racing down the windscreen
Staining my cheeks all wet, tears roll down.

Like a car on an erratic drive
My life takes unpredictable turns.

Like a passenger I observe the passing scenery
Events take place and I watch them without balking.

Like aeonian cicatrices and contusions
They leave their mark on my existence.

Like getting stabbed by slender needles
The piercing pains are caused by words.

Like the sun on a bright day
I go out and pretend.

Like the stars at night
Lonely in the dark attic;

Like a stone statue
I sit and contemplate.

Like a gaping, bleeding wound is covered
I suppress and hold back my fears.

Like the candle burns the moth
I hurt whoever comes close.

Like a flimsy dam barely holding up
I feel like I might fall apart.

Like a speck of ember persisting in the ash
My heart struggles to surpass the trash.

Like a warrior who doesn't give up
I try to pick myself back up.

Like no season lasts forever
My melancholy starts to disappear.

Like bearing pain allows you to gain
I standup stronger, having gone through the same.

Like a victor flaunts his prize
I wear my scars with pride.

Like a diamond shines after undergoing pressure
I get back in the saddle being firmer than ever.

Magic All Around

Barely containing my joy
I raise my head up high

A world of opportunities
Awaits my arrival

Scores of paths to choose from
Each being one of a kind

My hand struggles
To paint a canvas

Bring forth the colors
No one has seen before

My fingers type infinitely
Resulting in intricate webs

My eyes see and observe
The mind's racing; impulses rush

Problems are endless
So is the process

Of giving births to solutions
Whether it's the sky or the ocean

The Savannahs or the deserts
My brain processes it all

Every minor detail
Is decrypted, or made into a whole

No matter where I go
It never fails to fire me up

No matter what I learn
The feeling is awesome

As I learn I connect
With my predecessors

And create and leave a legacy
For the owners of the future

Emptiness

It's like the streets are empty
Even when people are there
I can't enjoy the amazing tastes
That I once used to crave
Everything seems so insipid
Is it a farewell I need to bid?
To something that makes me cringe
But I don't even know what that is
My mind's too numb to think
The cloudy sky looks so dull
I wish the rain could wash it all
So I could find my own muse
And paint a whole new picture
Filled with bright, vibrant colors
That are invisible to me right now
Or maybe draw an amazing sketch
Make my world black and white
Whose grace would elate every soul
That witnesses my masterpiece
The streets will never be empty again
I will fill them with amazing people
Sharing my bliss with everyone
How incredibly euphoric that will feel
Everything will be making sense
Nothing will be out anyone's reach
That Xanadu will be one to last forever
I can’t wait for the rain to come
I have to get up and take a step
Grab as many hands as I can
And run like there is no tomorrow
To the place where the rain is waiting
To turn my whole life around

A Forlorn Desire

I feel like screaming,
All this pain is so agonizing.
There is zilch that I can do,
About the wounds scaring my soul.
My heart is impaled with a thousand knifes,
There is no stopping the downpour of my eyes.

I cannot have what I want,
And all I can do is crave it.
This longing in my heart,
Has become a forlorn desire.
My soul weeps knowing it can't happen.
For it there is neither a cure, nor a consolation.

Yet, there lies a spark in my heart.
Whose light is enough to illuminate my whole world.
It's warmth makes all the doubt fade away.
Hope and faith overcome the feelings of being awry.
Things may be impossible and beyond my expectations.
But my gracious Creator is completely above these limitations.

My Lord has the power to do all things.
He has given me countless blessings.
He can fulfill my forlorn desire too.
Be patient and pray is all I can do.
Now I have no worries, none whatsoever.

Nothing saddens me, not even my forlorn desire.

Life and Lemonade

They say when life throws lemons at you,
You ought to make lemonade.
Who makes this stuff up anyway?
When lemons are being pelted onto your head
In no world can you think about making lemonade
Besides, making lemonade is not that easy
You need to check if the lemons are juicy
Grab sugar and water and a glass to hold them
And salt to make it extra tasty
All this is just a different story
Far away from the truth of reality
Of facing all those nasty hardships
Don’t let the rules of this world hold you down
Rise and aim for the heaven; not frown
Destroy all these silly shackles
Don’t spare any obstacles
Release yourself and be free to follow your heart
Because that is where you will find the truth
Believe in it and all shall be well
Free from worries, your life will be swell
Live it to the fullest and leave no regret
The destination may be the same for everyone
But the path; you have to find your own.
Making lemonade is not the only way
Use your heart and mind; do what they say

The Lonely Girl

A girl sat on damp grass all alone at night
The Moon was glowing with all its might

Cool, scented zephyr blew petals and leaves
The only music was that of the swooshing trees

And an occasional howl from far, far away
Nothing was even the slightest bit awry

Except for that girl, who was lonely and sad
The dew had wet the attire in which she was clad

Her big, glassy eyes stared glumly at the moon
The long winter night seemed far from ending soon

Feelings of envy were sparking inside her
She thought how fortunate the moon and stars were

They knew exactly what they were supposed to do
They didn't have to figure out what was true

In this messed up world filled with illusions
Around every corner there are deceptions

Tears trickled down her cheeks as her patience gave way
She wanted to seek her Lord but knew she was far away

Her existence was shackled in frailty and hopelessness
She felt as if nothing could save her from this distress

How was she supposed to keep track of her whole life?
It wasn't a bed of roses to deal with this strife

Good and bad sound easy to choose from
But in reality web of life is spun way beyond the norm

The worst thing was that she had to do it on her own
No one else could go in her place to atone

For the sins or bear the agony of the punishments
Which she would be subjected to for her transgressions

Her forlorn desire was to achieve redemption
But she was afraid it might never happen

Life was too elaborate how could she resist?
The temptations and illusions enshrouded her like mist

Waging a war more fearsome than one can imagine
Against the desires- in her heart- that were lodged in

There was majestic light and there was awful darkness
She knew, light she had to embrace and the dark, harness

If she let the darkness win she would be lead to ruin
Giving up was, in no wise an option

She knew not what the future would be
All she could do was try and leave the rest be

Would her worries be over and her goal achieved?
That was something only her Lord cognized

You can’t lose

This is life
You have your time
There is none to waste
And yet, you can’t make haste
What you need is to get up
Grab a cup of tea to slurp
And think about your future
You don’t want to end up a loser
Setting of goals is what you need
Towards the purpose of your life, pay heed
There is more than one thing that’s important
The need to realise this is significant
Better not lose sight of what really matters
Be strong, everyone falters
You need to follow your heart
That’s one of the things beloved Prophet (p.b.u.h) taught
Obeying him, do what you love
Work hard, as peacefully as a dove
New challenges a wait
You can’t be late
Come, buckle up and get going
Give it all that you have got
You are not alone
Your Lord’s with you
He has given you people you can count on
Come, put down your cup and get up
You have got much work
Losing is not an option
This is the battle of life, which you must win
The path may be tough

But believe me you can do it!
