Colours

Before you came into my life,
Everything was black and white.
The sky was a dreary grey,
And everything seemed damp and cold.
The rain pierced through me down to my core,
As I faced it with my eyes wide open.

You came in like a rainbow,
So high up on the horizon.
Inconspicuous to the oblivious,
And enchanting to the observant.
It took me sometime,
To feel the magic of your presence.
But once I did,
Nothing was ever the same again.

Now there were vibrant colours,
Dancing around wherever I looked.
Seeing them filled me with elation,
And their brightness led to a revelation.
As they shed light on a treasure, hidden.
The treasure of feelings buried deep within.
Feelings that I had never imagined,
I was even capable of harboring.

Now I see you in my dreams.
There too being my companion.
Smiling, strolling by the stream,
Or climbing a hefty mountain.
The vivid dreams are so cheerful.
Just like the good, old days.
I extend my arm to reach you in them.
As I wake up and realize you aren't there.

A grin lights up my countenance.
Because the colours are as bright as ever.
I clench my fist and hold it close to my heart,
And send flying a silent prayer.
I patiently wait for the time to come,
When I will be able to see you again.

All Better

The sparkling night sky, studded with a million stars.
The soothing light washing away my world's drab twilight.
No wonder everything looks so rejuvenating and bright.
The rainfall melted away the thick crust of dust.
All the way from my eyes to the core of my heart.
Clogs all gone, the scarlet flows freely once again.
Doesn't feel like it's going to explode anymore.
The aching seems to have faded away as well.
A stretch of pink adorns my countenance,
that glows with a tint of rosy, red blush.
Happiness emanating from beneath my fingernails,
I bend down on my knees, tears dangling on my chin.
With eyes shining brighter than the moonlight,
My forehead touches the gentle, soggy ground.
Ah, which smells like the intoxicating petrichor.
I wish this euphoria could be bottled up.
I would fill up a trillion and sail the seven seas.
Handing them out to everyone, spread the blessing.
What a wonderful xanadu the world would be then.
Void of all agony, there would be no more darkness.

Lost Spark

I'm sitting here, all alone.
In the corner of a black room.
And the walls are all caving in.
Lost in the emptiness,
With no way out.
No hand to hold,
No shoulder to cry on.
This hurricane in my mind,
Refuses to let me breath.
Or move a single inch.
My body is paralyzed.
Fear is taking over.
I need someone to talk to,
But no one is there.
All I see is a pitch blank.
The darkness is blinding.
The floor beneath my feet is melting.
Like I'm drowning in quick sand.
I try to scream at the top of my lungs,
But nothing comes out.
Not even a squeak.
At one point I stop struggling.
Purse my chapped lips,
And close the swollen eyes.
The quagmire couldn't kill me.

Once I realized that and took a deep breath,
The darkness was still there.
So I bent down, holding my breath.
And took a dip in the mud.
Falling prostrate I found what I needed.
Everything anyone could ever need.
What I found was You.
Your Hand, Your Shoulder,
Your Love, Your Support.
Your Solutions, and what not?
I felt a spark emerge from within me.
That rose and rose and reached the sky.
Once I lifted my face I saw it was there.
Pitch black but more beautiful than ever.
So calm and soothing, enveloping me entirely.
But the spark kept growing brighter.
And the night didn't seem to mind.
It kept smiling, stretching its limbs.
And yawned softly, closing its eyes.
The sun was rising and the spark was glowing,
As the magic kept growing stronger.
Your magic, the ever unparalleled.
Now light danced all around me, taking my hand.
And I followed joyfully singing Your songs.
Grinning, laughing, unable to count Your blessings.
Being grateful to You for everything.
As the glass walls of loneliness lay shattered.
And the shackles of pain left undone.

Heartsease

Tripping the light fantastic
In the serene daisy field
I feel an orb of light
Glowing with all it's might
In the depths of my heart
Just like the one in the sky
It spreads life all around
My soul feeds on its power
And keeps growing stronger

Without a care in the world
I dance in the meadows
Only blood, sweat and tears
No fret nor fear
The plan is perfect
So is the Planner
I can pull through, no matter what
Cos the light inside me is enough
To chase away all the darkness

The Night Prayer

Lying on the vast grass-covered ground
Cool wind blowing flower scent all around
As the zephyr caresses my countenance,
A smile lights it up as bright as the sun.

Serenity takes over my soul.

Thinking of You I close my eyes.
The absence of all noise, makes me feel
Like on this earth only I am alive
And in the heaven only You exist

Oh, how euphoric it is!

I open my eyes and raise my arm
Towards You, I stretch my hand
As I see the daylight fade
And twilight take its place
I wait eagerly for that hour to reach
When You will be nearest to me

So many stories to tell
So many sorrows to share
So many wishes to whisper
So many sins to repent for

I just lie there and wait for You
The One I can pour my heart out to
The stars shall witness our conversation
I will keep rambling till the break of dawn
Though You are always there to listen
This is certainly the best time for it to happen

Rising From The Ashes

Like rain drops racing down the windscreen
Staining my cheeks all wet, tears roll down.

Like a car on an erratic drive
My life takes unpredictable turns.

Like a passenger I observe the passing scenery
Events take place and I watch them without balking.

Like aeonian cicatrices and contusions
They leave their mark on my existence.

Like getting stabbed by slender needles
The piercing pains are caused by words.

Like the sun on a bright day
I go out and pretend.

Like the stars at night
Lonely in the dark attic;

Like a stone statue
I sit and contemplate.

Like a gaping, bleeding wound is covered
I suppress and hold back my fears.

Like the candle burns the moth
I hurt whoever comes close.

Like a flimsy dam barely holding up
I feel like I might fall apart.

Like a speck of ember persisting in the ash
My heart struggles to surpass the trash.

Like a warrior who doesn't give up
I try to pick myself back up.

Like no season lasts forever
My melancholy starts to disappear.

Like bearing pain allows you to gain
I standup stronger, having gone through the same.

Like a victor flaunts his prize
I wear my scars with pride.

Like a diamond shines after undergoing pressure
I get back in the saddle being firmer than ever.

Magic All Around

Barely containing my joy
I raise my head up high

A world of opportunities
Awaits my arrival

Scores of paths to choose from
Each being one of a kind

My hand struggles
To paint a canvas

Bring forth the colors
No one has seen before

My fingers type infinitely
Resulting in intricate webs

My eyes see and observe
The mind's racing; impulses rush

Problems are endless
So is the process

Of giving births to solutions
Whether it's the sky or the ocean

The Savannahs or the deserts
My brain processes it all

Every minor detail
Is decrypted, or made into a whole

No matter where I go
It never fails to fire me up

No matter what I learn
The feeling is awesome

As I learn I connect
With my predecessors

And create and leave a legacy
For the owners of the future

Emptiness

It's like the streets are empty
Even when people are there
I can't enjoy the amazing tastes
That I once used to crave
Everything seems so insipid
Is it a farewell I need to bid?
To something that makes me cringe
But I don't even know what that is
My mind's too numb to think
The cloudy sky looks so dull
I wish the rain could wash it all
So I could find my own muse
And paint a whole new picture
Filled with bright, vibrant colors
That are invisible to me right now
Or maybe draw an amazing sketch
Make my world black and white
Whose grace would elate every soul
That witnesses my masterpiece
The streets will never be empty again
I will fill them with amazing people
Sharing my bliss with everyone
How incredibly euphoric that will feel
Everything will be making sense
Nothing will be out anyone's reach
That Xanadu will be one to last forever
I can’t wait for the rain to come
I have to get up and take a step
Grab as many hands as I can
And run like there is no tomorrow
To the place where the rain is waiting
To turn my whole life around

A Forlorn Desire

I feel like screaming,
All this pain is so agonizing.
There is zilch that I can do,
About the wounds scaring my soul.
My heart is impaled with a thousand knifes,
There is no stopping the downpour of my eyes.

I cannot have what I want,
And all I can do is crave it.
This longing in my heart,
Has become a forlorn desire.
My soul weeps knowing it can't happen.
For it there is neither a cure, nor a consolation.

Yet, there lies a spark in my heart.
Whose light is enough to illuminate my whole world.
It's warmth makes all the doubt fade away.
Hope and faith overcome the feelings of being awry.
Things may be impossible and beyond my expectations.
But my gracious Creator is completely above these limitations.

My Lord has the power to do all things.
He has given me countless blessings.
He can fulfill my forlorn desire too.
Be patient and pray is all I can do.
Now I have no worries, none whatsoever.

Nothing saddens me, not even my forlorn desire.

Life and Lemonade

They say when life throws lemons at you,
You ought to make lemonade.
Who makes this stuff up anyway?
When lemons are being pelted onto your head
In no world can you think about making lemonade
Besides, making lemonade is not that easy
You need to check if the lemons are juicy
Grab sugar and water and a glass to hold them
And salt to make it extra tasty
All this is just a different story
Far away from the truth of reality
Of facing all those nasty hardships
Don’t let the rules of this world hold you down
Rise and aim for the heaven; not frown
Destroy all these silly shackles
Don’t spare any obstacles
Release yourself and be free to follow your heart
Because that is where you will find the truth
Believe in it and all shall be well
Free from worries, your life will be swell
Live it to the fullest and leave no regret
The destination may be the same for everyone
But the path; you have to find your own.
Making lemonade is not the only way
Use your heart and mind; do what they say

The Lonely Girl

A girl sat on damp grass all alone at night
The Moon was glowing with all its might

Cool, scented zephyr blew petals and leaves
The only music was that of the swooshing trees

And an occasional howl from far, far away
Nothing was even the slightest bit awry

Except for that girl, who was lonely and sad
The dew had wet the attire in which she was clad

Her big, glassy eyes stared glumly at the moon
The long winter night seemed far from ending soon

Feelings of envy were sparking inside her
She thought how fortunate the moon and stars were

They knew exactly what they were supposed to do
They didn't have to figure out what was true

In this messed up world filled with illusions
Around every corner there are deceptions

Tears trickled down her cheeks as her patience gave way
She wanted to seek her Lord but knew she was far away

Her existence was shackled in frailty and hopelessness
She felt as if nothing could save her from this distress

How was she supposed to keep track of her whole life?
It wasn't a bed of roses to deal with this strife

Good and bad sound easy to choose from
But in reality web of life is spun way beyond the norm

The worst thing was that she had to do it on her own
No one else could go in her place to atone

For the sins or bear the agony of the punishments
Which she would be subjected to for her transgressions

Her forlorn desire was to achieve redemption
But she was afraid it might never happen

Life was too elaborate how could she resist?
The temptations and illusions enshrouded her like mist

Waging a war more fearsome than one can imagine
Against the desires- in her heart- that were lodged in

There was majestic light and there was awful darkness
She knew, light she had to embrace and the dark, harness

If she let the darkness win she would be lead to ruin
Giving up was, in no wise an option

She knew not what the future would be
All she could do was try and leave the rest be

Would her worries be over and her goal achieved?
That was something only her Lord cognized

You can’t lose

This is life
You have your time
There is none to waste
And yet, you can’t make haste
What you need is to get up
Grab a cup of tea to slurp
And think about your future
You don’t want to end up a loser
Setting of goals is what you need
Towards the purpose of your life, pay heed
There is more than one thing that’s important
The need to realise this is significant
Better not lose sight of what really matters
Be strong, everyone falters
You need to follow your heart
That’s one of the things beloved Prophet (p.b.u.h) taught
Obeying him, do what you love
Work hard, as peacefully as a dove
New challenges a wait
You can’t be late
Come, buckle up and get going
Give it all that you have got
You are not alone
Your Lord’s with you
He has given you people you can count on
Come, put down your cup and get up
You have got much work
Losing is not an option
This is the battle of life, which you must win
The path may be tough

But believe me you can do it!

Leaving Home

Enjoying a cup of Mom-made tea,
With my mum, on a sunny morning.
These days will never come back,
Better make the most of them,
While I still have the chance.
I have my parents by my side now,
But, soon enough it will be time,
For the little bird to finally take flight
And fly far away, leaving all behind.
It’s going to be really hard, I know,
Sadness might penetrate down to my core,
But, I will be strong, I have to vow,
As that’s the only way to achieve, what I adore.
I too need to become, the one to sow,
The seeds of victory all by myself.
The coziness of my home won't be there,
But, still I will have my parent's prayers.
They shall accompany and comfort me,
Whenever I feel down or alone.
I shall have faith in my Lord,
And never lose sight of my goals.
All will be well in the end, I believe so,
Even if not, it will take more than failures,
To make me give up or lose sight of myself.
I believe that whatever life brings me,
Is destined to help me find my way,
And lead me to success instead of awry.
When finally I will have achieved my dreams,
I will be able to look back and be thankful.
On that day I shall be glad that I had left,
The loving embrace and the safety of my home;
Abandoned my nest and dived down,
For it was only after I jumped out of it,
That I was able to spread my wings so wide,
And soar in to the blue sky with all my might.

Sacrifices

At times you have to be selfless, for others
But deep down you know sometimes it bothers
Can't help it you have to do the right thing
Don't know, still, how to deal with the pain it can bring
Even though you want things to be the other way around
For your loved ones you have to kill your own desire
God knows, the heart has to be vast as the sky that’s sapphire
Hard it is to not grab it when what you want is right in front
It takes much courage and patience to just quietly grunt
Just then you wonder whether you really want to forsake it
Kudos shall be earned but the thing is that, is it really worth it?
Letting your heart be torn just for the sake of someone else
Maybe it’s that you feel you are not strong enough
Noble it is indeed to make a make a selfless decision
Opting to do it however can become worse than a prison
Possibility is that later you will regret doing so
Quandary will cause you to mop and mow
Restless your soul shall become causing agony
Sometimes the pain can even become uncanny
Thus you will then wish you could bring back the past
Undo the mistake, you feel could otherwise be your last
Very fatal now the sacrifice seems
Wrong you were in the beginning it means
Xanadu of Paradise though you will get in the afterlife
You will be rewarded then for making the sacrifice

Zilch will be your suffering there, had your intentions been fair here

Do not Despair

Life is so bright
Everything's just alright
It seems nothing can go wrong
But soon God proves you wrong
That is life my friend
God is your one, true friend
There are always points in your life
When darkness is stabbing you like a knife
You know you are all alone
And that’s where you need to atone
Just tell yourself you are a moron
Because God is with you, you stupid human
Wen no loved one can reach you
No matter how much they want to
Your Lord is there for you
To save you from your agony
The Great Lord can do what He wants
Whatever He wills for His beings, He grants
All you need is to ask
It may seem a difficult task
But trust me it’s worth the shot
For your Lord loves you a lot
Just have faith and hold His hand
Then there won’t be any problem that you can’t withstand
Patience though you will need
After all there’s a price if you want to succeed
It isn’t even near as high as you think
If you choose the glitter, your life will stink
Just don’t lose hope and don’t despair
For your Lord’s always there
Just call out to Him and He shall help you
All of your problems He shall hew

Dreams and Disappointments

All humans dream and aim high
Babies and grownups all alike
Careful though they need to be
Dreams cannot all be fulfilled
Even of those who are self-willed
For ultimately humans have limitations
God too has his own plans
However, the fact cannot be denied
It hurts a lot when dreams are annihilated
Jape of life is what it seems
Keek of reality beyond the dreams
Lost and hopeless is what you feel
Mourning looks like your only deal
Not to mention the criticism
Or the hearts you know you have broken
Parents and loved ones feel sorry for you
Quietly try to console you
Ruptured is your heart, however, too badly
Sadness enshrouds, you get so lonely
Tasks of life seem so irking
Up, however, you need to rise
Verily regret will benefit you in no wise
Well, life is never without disappointments
X-dreams thus need to be left behind
You just need to have faith in God
Zilch will then be your suffering over a lost cause

Pleas wrapped in confession

You can never count the bounties of Your Lord
For He is the greatest of all
And can give you all you want
Even that which you have never asked
In spite of our countless sins
He is always merciful to us
Never forsakes us
Doesn’t hate us
Though we are such ungrateful beings
O Lord we love you
O Lord we beg you
To guide us to the straight path
Make us thankful
Forgive all of our sins
And never be angry with us
For if You will to leave us
Without doubt you don’t need us
We will be doomed to hell
Which is the worst abode of all
O Allah we thank You so much
And are very grateful to You
We love You with all we can
So please listen to our plea

Verily You alone are the best of listeners

Gratitude

The blessings of my Lord are countless
Yet in thanking Him I become so listless
Such a sinful being I am
Feel like a complete sham
What is there that my Lord hasn't given me?
Even the things He withheld from me
He kept them away because He loves me
He is the Great Lord who knows what’s best for me
My lord, I thank You
I thank You with all my heart
My soul is Yours
It bows before You
Because that’s its duty
That’s what You ordered it to do
My lord forgive my sins
Please O Lord love me
I know You do
But I am afraid too
I am such a damn fool
Full of pride, in spite of my utter frailness
My Lord I love You with all I can
And I beseech You to love me
And those whose love You have blessed me with
You have in Your power all
And need the help of no one
Your blessings are countless
You are without doubt the most merciful of all
None of the goods I have are my own earning
You are the one who has blessed me with them
For I have no power over any thing
I take You and You alone as the disposer of my affairs
And I know You will never let me down
As long as I hold tight Your rope
My Lord keep blessing me
And make me of Your grateful, pious beings
Who are as free from pomp and pride

As a pure, new born child
